PDP operates now as opposition party
SIR: The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made history as a party in power but operating as though in opposition. The acclaimed largest party in Africa has found itself in a tight corner of defending most of its policies and programmes with difficulty.
With the coming of APC as a legitimate opposition party, the ruling party has been having sleepless nights on how to go about convincing Nigerians to re-elect the party in this coming election. PDP as a political party in spite of being in government and with its huge war chest is finding it difficult to sell itself to Nigerians.
The recent campaigns undertaken by the party across the country have exposed the struggle of the ruling party to stay afloat and be relevant. The stoning of their leaders and destruction of their posters and billboards by the same PDP members as obtained in places like Bauchi, Kastina and Taraba, all PDP states show how the centre is not holding for the ruling party.
