Kaduna State LG elections

The Chairman of the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM), Hajiya Hajara Mohammed, has announced that 76 candidates from 10 political parties are set to contest the council elections in the state.

According to her, these candidates have registered with the commission and been screened for the upcoming local government elections in Kaduna State. They are now prepared to vie for the elections.

Mohammed made this announcement while briefing journalists at the conclusion of the screening exercise organised by the commission for chairmanship candidates from ten political parties registered for the forthcoming local government polls in the state.

She said, “The commission has successfully screened 76 chairmanship contestants from 10 out of 19 registered political parties.”

The commission will display the full names of valid and disqualified candidates who participated in the screening exercise, according to the electoral guidelines, on 20th September this year.

Mohammed assured Kaduna citizens that the commission will fully adhere to the electoral guidelines and timelines for holding the elections on 19th October this year.

She further appealed to the candidates from all political parties to comply with the election guidelines and warned them to avoid any actions that might disrupt the peace and harmony of the state before, during, and after the elections.

The Chairman also called on the electorate to come out in large numbers on election day to vote for their preferred candidates, stressing that “voting is your right, and don’t fail to exercise your rights.”
