CUPP congratulates Rivers for peaceful LG polls

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has congratulated the people of Rivers State on the successful conduct of the local government elections held on Saturday.
Chief Peter Ameh, National Secretary of the coalition, described the elections as a victory for democracy, noting the peaceful participation of the people as a reflection of their strong commitment to democratic principles.
“Despite past challenges, the people of Rivers have demonstrated that their voices will be heard and their choices will shape their future.”
“This success is a beacon of hope for Nigeria’s democratic progress,” he added.
Ameh pointed out that the people of Rivers had sent a clear message, calling for accountability, transparency, and good governance.
He said that their united stand had renewed hope for better national elections.
The CUPP National Secretary also stressed the significance of the election’s outcome, stating that it had bolstered Nigeria’s democratic institutions, inspired optimism for a brighter future, and showcased the power of collective action.
“Your participation has shown that democracy can flourish in Nigeria.”
“We anticipate a continued positive trend, where citizens’ voices are louder, and leaders are held to higher standards.”
Ameh also remarked that the successful election had delivered a strong rebuke to anti-democratic elements aiming to weaken the nation’s democratic framework.
He concluded by saying that the resilience of democracy in the face of external threats showed the strength of Nigeria’s democratic institutions and the determination of the people.
“The success of this election offers renewed hope for democracy’s resilience and revitalisation, proving that citizens can unite to reject anti-democratic forces and affirm their dedication to democratic values.”
