The Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo, has appointed an additional 100 special assistants, days after announcing 130, bringing the total number to 230 special assistants.

Ihunwo, who announced the latest appointments on Saturday, January 18, 2025 in a post on X, said the appointment takes immediate effect.

The LG boss said, “I have appointed an additional 100 persons as special assistants to help me achieve my plans for my people. Their appointment takes immediate effect.”

The latest development came a few days after he announced the appointment of 130 SAs on January 8, 2024.

In July 2024, when he was the caretaker committee chairman of the LGA, Ihunwo appointed 100 special assistants.

Ihunwo, an ally of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, removed the name of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, from the administrative block of the council secretariat.
