After months of working on the project, film journalist and show host, Isabella Akinseye, is set to premiere her magazine TV programme, The Clapperboard Show. The show, which focuses on African cinema, will go live today on Africa Magic Showcase channel on DSTV.

Speaking on the project, Akinseye said, “The Clapperboard Show is for lovers of African cinema who want an informative and entertaining show. If you are cinephile and ever wanted a show that goes beyond the glitz and the glam, this is your show. It is informative but still fun.”

On her love for African stories, Akinseye, who is the host for the TV show, said, “we have many stories to tell. In the past, those outside were telling stories from the continent. Now, we are telling our own narrative from our own perspective. It is important that these developments are all documented for future generations.”

Isabella Akinseye started her film journalism career writing movie reviews for magazines while still a student at the University of Cambridge. She followed this up with articles in newspapers, before she started an online film magazine, Nolly Silver Screen. In 2015, she was selected as a talent for Durban International Film Festival and this year, she attended the prestigious Berlinale Talent, where she honed her journalistic skills under the mentorship of international film critics.

However, Akinseye, who premiered her TV show, Africana Literati in April, is no stranger to the small screen says she got her first taste of Nollywood when she was a red carpet presenter for TV Nolly in 2013.

“I enjoyed meeting and interviewing people on the red carpet but after a while, I wanted more. So I went on to present and produce Nolly Silver Screen video review in 180 seconds. The Clapperboard Show draws on all these experiences. With different segments such as movie review, master class, quiz and moments in cinema, there is something for everyone.”

During the first season of The Clapperboard Show, Akinseye is slated to interview guests such as Iretiola Doyle, Adesua Etomi, Chiedozie Sambasa Nzeribe, Blossom Chuks Chukwujekwu, Kehinde Bankole and others. With guests ranging from accomplished actors to writers and directors, The Clapperboard Show will air every Saturday at 5: 30 pm on Africa Magic Showcase, Dstv Channel 151.
