HALIMAT Awobadejo, Oluwaseun Lawal, Mubaraq Ashafa, Omari Bilal and Mariam Musari were the top stars at the sixth biennial inter house sport competition of Taqwa Private Schools held at the Agege Stadium, Lagos on Tuesday.

Halimat Awobadejo beat the field to win the 100 metres and 200m senior girls gold, a feat she attributed to her determination to do her school proud as she trained hard for the event.

Mariam Musari won the 100 and 200 metres junior girls, while Oluwaseun Lawal-Owonifaari won the 200 metres senior boys race.

Mubaraq Ashafa, who came tops in the 100 and 200 metres junior boys, said he was happy, as he never knew he could win the race. Omari Bilan won the 100 metres senior boys category.

In the relay race, Providence school won the junior boys and girls category, while Barachel school came first in the senior girls category.

At the end of competition in the various events, Green House came tops, Yellow House took the second position, while Red House was third.

Meanwhile, officials of Taqwa Private Schools, who participated and won the Lagos State Table Tennis ‘Talent Hunt’ in 2014, and also won the first edition of Dansol High School Soccer Competition, say the school is determined to show case the school as a place where all round education is given.

Speaking with the director, Taqwa Private School, Mariam Alimi, encouraged parents to help their children develop interest in sports as it helps to build them up mentally and physically.

“We discover the talents in our children through sports, which helps to build the children’s future,” she stressed, adding that sports plays important roles in the lives of the children.
