THE Nigerian Baseball and Softball Association will on Saturday inaugurate its technical commission comprising technical officials of the body from four zones across the country.

The 31-member technical commission will be inaugurated in the boardroom of the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) in Lagos after a two-day workshop, which starts Friday.

NBSA Secretary General, Kehinde Laniyan, said: “It is mandatory for all technical officers and members of the national executive committee of NBSA to attend this important event. It is a landmark step in the development of the association and the sport.

“The seminar is designed to improve the standard of the game as well as bring awareness to the sport across Nigeria at the grassroots using the technical commission. The seminar will examine extant technical structures with view to improving capacity through training and having informed baseball and softball technical personnel in local schools at state, zonal and national levels.

“The seminar is designed having in mind that the technical department is the heartbeat of sports organisations and to that it should be adequately equipped,” he said.

A keynote address will be delivered by NBSA President, Victor Fingesi.
