Design your year – Part 3
Key Verse: Luke 19:4: “So, he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way,” (NIV).
Every New Year offers opportunities for new things, improvement and growth. To navigate through the New Year, you must be loaded both spiritually and physically. Christ is both the power of God and the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24). What makes the year new is your new strategy. Dr. Sam Iheanacho said: “Your New Year will not be different from last year if there is no new strategy.”
Strategy is the means by which we achieve our plans and goals. One of such strategy is seeking new information because most failures are knowledge gap and not demonic. In this era of information technology that has rapidly changed the way people communicate and connect with one another, knowledge is expiring very fast. So, to be ahead of whatever challenges that will come with the New Year, you should be willing to unlearn to relearn. Life tenure of most skills are short and so you need to keep up skilling to stay relevant in the workplace or you face what is called “Educated Incapacity,” which is incapability of solving problems because of education we had before. The illiterate of the 21st century are not persons that did not go to school, but persons who are unwilling to unlearn to relearn.
To surmount the problems of the New Year, you should adopt the strategy of running ahead of others. This was the strategy that Zacchaeus adopted to be able to surmount the challenge of his small stature. The Bible said that he was short and could not see over the crowd. He had both internal and external challenges to overcome. He studied ahead to know that Jesus will pass through that particular way and so, he ran ahead of others. You need to be strategic to be ahead of others in the New Year.
