What God decrees shall come to pass
Isa 46:9-11; 9: Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,10: Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:11: Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it. (KJV)
It has been a wonderful experience with the Lord since the past four days of this programme here in Mgbidi. God has really shown that he is all-powerful, all-knowing and ever-living. He has demonstrated that truly WHAT HE DECREES MUST SURELY COME TO PASS. In the ever-changing course of life, we see evidence of God’s control over creation, history, and the future. His plans are not subject to human interference, and His purposes stand firm across all generations.
Isaiah46: 9-11(our text above), this passage emphasises God’s unmatched authority and the certainty of His plans. From the beginning of time, He has known and ordained the outcome of every event.
God’s Decrees in Creation and Providence
God’s decrees govern the universe, ensuring that His purposes are fulfilled in all creation. Psalm 33:11 reminds us:” The counsel of the Lord standeth forever, the thoughts of His heart to all generations.”
Even when events seem chaotic, they unfold under the sovereign hand of God. His providential care ensures that everything works together for His glory and the good of His people.
From the first day of this crusade, till today, some of you have received unspeakable miracles and different interventions from God. And I’m not surprised because I know that God can do all things. There is no case or situation that is more than him, that is why we say, “what God cannot do does not exist” So, we should rejoice always knowing that our God is all-powerful and whatever He decrees shall be done and it is evident in this crusade.
As we start this year-2025 with God, as is usually our manner every year, may you never lose faith in God, even if He has not visited you, wait, at the appointed time, he will intervene in that case, remember, his time is the best. And nothing can work against a child of God. It does not matter what you are passing through, he knows about it,
Rom 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”(KJV)
Nothing can walk against a child of God, even that your condition cannot work against you, so be encouraged that God has good determination for you. Hear what he says in Jer. 29: 11,“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”(KJV)
God has good plans for every one of us, even before creation, so cheer up. Do you know one of the greatest things God has done for you is making you to be a chosen and granting you the opportunity to be with him from January 1, 2025 till now. The essence is to empower you for the year, so be grateful to him. Some people did not make it to the new year, even some that made it to the new year are no more today but you, as a chosen, our covenant with God is that no member of Chosen will die a day before his time. It is a great privilege from the Almighty God.
God’s Decrees in Salvation
God’s decrees are especially evident in His plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. Before the foundation of the world, God ordained the redemption of humanity. As stated in Eph 1:11-13 “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.13: In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.”(KJV)
Trusting in God’s Decree
We should be comforted in knowing that God’s decrees are unchanging and trustworthy. No power in heaven or on earth can undo His plans.
That is why Job 42:2 declares: “I know that thou canst do everything, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.”
When we are faced with uncertainty or trials, we should rest in the assurance that God’s perfect will and believe it is being accomplished. This confidence leads to peace, faith, and worship.
God’s Decrees are unstoppable
God’s decrees cannot be thwarted by any power in heaven, on earth, or beneath the earth. His plans are not influenced by human limitations or opposition.
Daniel illustrates this truth in Dan 4:35 “And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?”(KJV)
This verse highlights God’s omnipotence and the futility of resisting His will. Even the greatest human empires and powers are subject to His authority.
God’s Decrees in Creation
From the very beginning, God’s decrees shaped the universe and everything within it. He spoke the world into existence, and His word brought order, beauty, and life.
“For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm. The Lord foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.”
Creation itself is a proof of God’s sovereign will. The stars, the seas, and all living creatures exist because He decreed it so.
God’s Decrees in Human History
God’s purposes are evident throughout human history, guiding events toward the fulfillment of His divine plan. Even when humans act with sinful or rebellious intent, God uses their actions to accomplish His will.
In the story of Joseph, we see this principle clearly. After being sold into slavery by his brothers, Joseph rose to a position of power in Egypt, ultimately saving his family from famine. Reflecting on this, Joseph said in Genesis 50:20:”You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”
This demonstrates how God’s decrees prevail, even through human actions that seem contrary to His will.
Conclusion
What God decrees shall come to pass. His sovereignty ensures that His plans are unchangeable, His purposes are fulfilled, and His promises are kept. As Chosen, we are called to trust and rejoice in His perfect will, knowing that He works all things for His glory and our ultimate good.
Let us take heart in the words of Proverbs 19:21:”There are many devices in a man’s heart, nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.”
Testimony Of The Lord’s Doing
How Through Evangelism A Dead Man Was Raised
Daniel 11:3v2 “:..but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”
SISTER Mercy Damanga is one of the evangelists from Kaduna State but resides in Lagos State and because of her love for God, she travels often to her state to propagate the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. In the course of this, God also used her to revive one of the branches of the church that was closed down in Kaduna State. In her testimony, she was also instrumental to the opening of four new branches in the state.
Testifying what God of Chosen has used her to do in her evangelical work, Sister Damanga said she went to a place where an old man just died, and while there, she asked the bereaved family members for their permission to pray, and her request was granted. As she placed her apron and hand on the dead man, and called upon God of Chosen and said, “The God of my pastor, I want you to speedily answer my prayer, which I would make for this man now just as you answer my General Overseer’s prayers.”
According to her, immediately, the man jerked, and opened his eyes. Lo and behold that was how the God of Chosen revived him. Sister Damanga further stressed that, during her journey from Lagos to Kaduna for evangelism, they got to the last bus stop, and everybody came down, but because she was in a hurry, she quickly asked okada rider to take her to her destination, not knowing that the driver of the vehicle handed a wrong bag to the okada rider, thinking it was her own. The okada rider collected the bag and placed it on his motorcycle, though he complained that the bag was heavy, not knowing what was inside. While this was going on, Sister Damanga was ignorant of everything and so her own bag was given to another passenger who screamed and said, “No, this is not my bag. I have N7m in my bag, which was the proceeds of the cows I sold.”While they were dragging it, a particular old man according to an eye witness, opened the bag, and discovered a Chosen apron. When the old man saw the apron, he said, “Oh, if your bag is with these people(referring to the Chosen people and their apron),they would return your bag and money.”But nobody believed him.
When Sister Mercy got to her brother’s place, and opened the bag, to bring out the apron she bought for him, she saw the money. She quickly took the bag back to the bus stop and searched for the driver of the vehicle that brought them. Sighting the vehicle, she went to see the driver, but the driver was not at the place where the vehicle was parked. As she inquired, people directed her to where the driver was standing with the owner of the missing bag.
According to her, she called the driver aside and identified herself, that a wrong bag was given her.
She said, “quickly, they took the bag from me, opened it, and it was the man’s bag containing huge amount of money. The owner of the bag at that point, collected the bag from the driver and said, “Let me count it, to ensure that it is complete.” When he counted it, and ascertained that the money was complete, they appreciated the God of Chosen and applauded Sister Mercy as a godly woman. They asked her to help them extend their greetings to her pastor, and tell him that he is training and bringing up godly people.
That singular event changed the narrative at that garage and they now see Chosen members as good people because of Sister Mercy Damanga’s righteous work. Praise the Lord!
