Court remands man, 39, in Ogun prison over alleged murder
An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Monday remanded a 39-year-old man, Abdulgafar Odunayo, alleged to have caused the death of one Mr Kazeem Folorunso, a member of a local vigilante group.
Odunayo, whose address was not provided, is being tried for murder.
The Magistrate, Miss Temitope Adebutu, ordered that the accused should be remanded in prison custody pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Adebutu adjourned the case till Oct. 16 for mention
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Rosemary Brown had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 6 at about 1.20 a.m. at Divine Estate area, Ijoko in Ota.
She said that the accused unlawfully shot Folorunso with the deceased’s gun during a struggle to dispossess him of the weapon.
Brown said the offence contravened Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
