An Oyo State-based businessman, Alhaji Isiak Folorunso, has said he will be seeking legal redress against an attempt by a US-based online blogger who allegedly made a video to discredit him and his business.

Folorunso said this at a press conference he held in Iseyin, Oyo State, to address a case of cyber-bullying in which a woman from a TV station accused him of sponsoring terrorism in Iseyin town and working against the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola Adeyeri III, Ajirotutu I, in one of her programmes.

Isiak, the owner of SAF Polytechnic, SAF Group of Schools, SAF Bread, and some other concerns, said the content of the video posted was meant to malign his reputation and create disaffection between him and the monarch.

He, however, stated that he has instructed his legal representatives to write to the American government and other authorities concerned to start a legal battle with the woman, if she fails to provide evidence to support her accusation or make a public apology.

He said: “On Wednesday, 29th January 2025, at about 7:00 hours, I received a call drawing my attention to a broadcast by a woman, based in the US, defaming my character and accusing me of sponsoring terrorism, an allegation I know nothing about.

“It is worthy of note that I never met the said woman, we have never had an encounter or dealings, and she did not contact me regarding those allegations her informants gave her, as demanded by the ethics of real journalism and even the natural law of hearing from both sides before judging.

“I am a responsible citizen of Iseyin, I have committed resources to the progress and development of our town, Iseyin. I belong to many committees working for the peace and progress of the town, one of which was formed by the present Aseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola Adeyeri, who they unfortunately claimed I am disturbing his reign.

“I visited the new Aseyin before his coronation, I was at his coronation ceremony, and I was also present at the inauguration of the Peace Committee on Islamic Affairs in Iseyin at his palace. Myself and other lovers of Iseyin are currently working on the reconciliation of Aso-Ofi weavers, a case the monarch is fully aware of. Therefore, it is highly misplaced and mischievous for a diasporan to refer to my person as a bastard of this town.

“I hereby urge the woman to be courageous enough to either establish the truth of those allegations with evidence or clear me of them on the same medium she raised them, because the repeated mentions of my name and businesses in the said broadcast raised a lot of suspicion and questions. I have instructed my lawyers to use the necessary instruments of the law to clear my hard-earned reputation.”
