COVID-19 frontline nurse, Oludolapo Akinwunmi qualifies as a Doctor

OLUDOLAPO

The Brighton and Sussex University graduation hall in the United Kingdom beamed with joy and pride as Sekinat Oludolapo Akinwunmi officially became a Medical Doctor.

We recalled that before earning her medical degree, Dolapo had already made a name for herself as a critical care nurse, serving in the intensive care units of King’s College Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital-two of the UK’s most prestigious medical institutions.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked tirelessly on the frontline, treating thousands of patients in critical condition. Her transition from nurse to doctor stands as a testament to her dedication, resilience, and passion for saving lives.

She was surrounded by family and well-wishers, including Mr. and Mrs. Akinwunmi, Mr. and Mrs. Oyeleye, Hajia Ayisat Lawal (former First Lady of Kwara State), Mrs. Owolabi Amodu, Mrs. Shiro, and Basheer Olanrewaju Oshodi, Dolapo’s academic milestone was celebrated with warmth and admiration.

Her proud aunt, Hajia Islamiat Olaitan Oshodi, summed it up best: “Today is my happiest day. Dolapo has served humanity with courage and now steps into a new chapter as a doctor.
