WIMBIZ set for 23rd annual conference
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and vice chancellor of Lagos State University serving Prof. Folashade Ogunsola have been announced as keynote speaker and chairperson respectively at the 23rd annual Women in Management, Business, and Public Service (WIMBIZ) conference.
The hybrid event, themed “Dream. Dare. Do.,” will take place with both virtual and physical attendance options, bringing together women from various sectors around the world in different countries like the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Ghana, Cameroon, United Arab Emirates and lots more come together to engage in transformative dialogue and learning.
Executive Director, WIMBIZ, Omowunmi Akingbohungbe said the conference, which remains the flagship event of the organisation, stands as WIMBIZ’s commitment to empowering women, particularly in leadership roles. She highlighted that the conference has played a key role in inspiring over 330,000 women throughout its history.
Akingbohungbe noted, “We are constantly advocating for equal representation of both genders in leadership positions across all sectors. We have seen quite some improvement in the financial sector with 30 per cent female CEOs in the Banking Industry, this underscores the need for a balanced mix of perspectives in today’s workforce,” she said.
For the Chair, Conference Planning Group, Opeyemi Oduwole, “The theme of this year’s WIMBIZ conference, ‘Dream. Dare. Do.,’ reflects the urgency for women to step into their power, especially in these challenging economic times. The conference is that charge we need to dare, dream, and do it.”
Oduwole added, “Your network is one of the most powerful assets you’ll ever have in life.” She encouraged all women to attend the conference, emphasising that the connections made could be instrumental in shaping their future.
The conference which will include five plenary sessions, three hands-on workshops, and a business pitch competition, will delve into these plenary sessions: Diversifying into Entertainment: A Viable Business Opportunity; Overcoming Emotional Hurdles in Women’s Bold Journey and Building resilience, and achieving work-life balance.
