In commemoration of this year’s International Charity Day, ForexTime (FXTM), a prominent forex broker, has partnered with Karis and Eleos Hand of Hope Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, to provide educational resources to primary and secondary school students in Bariga, Lagos, as they begin the new academic session.

The event, held at Bright Achievers School, saw over 500 underprivileged children receive school bags, writing materials, pencils, biros, rulers, school sandals, exercise books, and other essential items.

Parents and caregivers also benefited from the initiative, receiving food items, clothing, shoes, sanitary pads, and household materials to help alleviate the impact of the country’s prevailing economic hardship.

Speaking at the event, Mr Chikezie Ekechukwu, Programme Manager of Karis and Eleos Foundation, said the initiative aimed to support less-privileged families in ensuring their children return to school equipped for success. He added that providing these materials would help children remain focused on their education and achieve their academic aspirations.

“We, at the organisation, recognise the need to mitigate the impact of economic challenges by helping children in underserved communities learn effectively,” Ekechukwu explained. “We observed that many pupils in these communities lack basic writing materials necessary to excel in school. Our goal is to ensure these children receive the support they need for a brighter future.”

Ms Adaeze Uzochukwu, FXTM Education Coordinator in Lagos, highlighted the company’s commitment to creating a facilitative learning environment for less-privileged children. She noted that the partnership with Karis and Eleos Foundation stemmed from their shared interest in improving educational opportunities for these children.

Ms Bukola Bamiduro, the foundation’s Founder and Executive Director, noted that quality education is fundamental to any thriving community. She explained that the initiative focused on Bariga because a significant number of pupils lack essential learning resources.
