Friends, associates mourn as Roseline Okere passes on

Friends, associates and colleagues yesterday mourned the sudden demise of a former staff of The Guardian Newspaper, Mrs Roseline Okere, who died on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

Friends, associates and colleagues yesterday mourned the sudden demise of a former staff of The Guardian Newspaper, Mrs Roseline Okere, who died on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

  
Until her death, Mrs Okere was the Internal Communication Specialist, Branding & Communication Department at Dangote Industries Limited. She was an Assistant Energy Correspondent at The Guardian before joining Dangote Industries.
  
The Guardian confirmed her demise from her husband, Mr Mike Okere at the weekend. Former associates at The Guardian expressed shock at the news and commiserated with the family on the loss. 

 A statement by Dangote Limited said her burial arrangements will be announced later by the family. Roseline had an illustrious career at The Guardian. Attesting to her rare personality and quality, former Business Editor and her former boss while she was at The Guardian, Ade Ogidan said Mrs Okere will add more fragrance to the heavenly gardens. Ogidan described her as an enigma, a dogged fighter with an amiable personality.
  
He wrote: “Smile on, Golden Rose with the bouquet of earthly achievements, as your Rose adds more fragrance to the heavenly gardens. Despite the pains, tears and pall of gloom which your passage has assailed in our hearts, we glorify the Almighty for the pleasant grace of your sojourn on this earth. “You rose from being a cub reporter to an award-winning journalist in The Guardian.

 “As your Editor on the Business Desk, you enhanced my profile with your front page stories on the paper, your incisive news analyses on the business pages and your Rosy relationship with colleagues on the desk.  
 
“You were a Rosy flower that radiated the whole editorial space of The Guardian. Your radiance, achieved through hard work, captured the attention of our sources, with Dangote Group clinching your stewardship. To the glory of God, you left such indelible marks on the organisations that were pleasantly privileged to secure your services. 
  
“I commiserate with your loving husband, Mike, who threw in all, to save you from the life decimating cancer. Your lovely children will miss you sorely.  
 
“The media community remains shell-shocked with your demise. Dangote Group showed great love for you by rolling out the arsenal from the Dangote Foundation to save you from the jaws of death. 
  
“May the Almighty, in His infinite mercy, give the families the fortitude to bear this great loss. Adieu, Rosy Rose, Iya Ibeji, Aya Okere.  

“Sleep on well with your signature smile, till we meet to part no more.”
