The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has advised states facing security challenges in the North and other parts of the country to adopt the Kaduna model in tackling the menace because the non-kinetic approach has started yielding results.

According to him, peace has now returned to Birnin Gwari, a suburb of the state that had been facing insecurity for several years. He added that economic activities have started picking up in the area.

Sani gave this advice as a Special Guest of Honour at the gathering of the Association of Zamfara State Indigenes Resident in Kaduna, held at the Banquet Hall of Arewa House, Kaduna, on Sunday.

The governor, who was represented by the Special Adviser on Community Engagement, Malam Mohammed Jalal, said he has been working tirelessly to return peace in Kaduna State since he assumed office.

Sani also recalled that peace has returned to Birnin Gwari through the efforts of the Peace Dialogue Group, established by the Kaduna State Government in collaboration with federal agencies and security services.

Besides, it will be recalled that the governor reopened the strategic Birnin Gwari Market, which had been closed for about 10 years, on November 29, 2024, signalling the commencement of commercial activities in the area.

Similarly, Kidandan Market in Giwa Local Council of the state, which had not been patronised for several years owing to insecurity, has been reopened.

MEANWHILE, the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has urged the military to track and neutralise Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists that killed farmers and fishermen at Dunba, in Kukawa Local Council of the state.

Condemning the multiple attacks, yesterday, in Maiduguri, Zulum said: “The officers and men of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) are to track and neutralise the insurgents that are terrorising our farmers and fishermen in Dumba Community.”

He also called on the military to smoke out the criminal elements from the hideouts of the Lake Chad region. Sympathising with the 40 families of killed farmers and fishermen, the governor said: “It’s with deep sorrow and anguish that I received the sad news of the attack in Dumba Community,” stressing that scores of farmers and fishermen were killed on that fateful Sunday.

He, however, assured the people that the attacks and killings would be thoroughly investigated, as necessary actions would be taken, including the pursuits of insurgents to their hideouts in the Lake Chad region. Zulum, therefore, warned members of communities in the region not to go into areas where the terrorists are lurking and trespassing farmlands and waters of the lake, including the battlefields.
