NYSC appeals to Gombe govt to complete orientation camp
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has appealed to the Gombe State government to expedite the completion of the permanent orientation camp in Boltongo community.
The State Coordinator, NYSC Gombe, Mrs Chinwe Nwachuku, made the appeal at the Swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members at the Temporary Orientation Camp, Amada, in Akko Local Government Area.
She emphasised that the completion of the new camp would ensure the comfort of corps members posted to the state for the orientation exercise.
Nwachuku praised the state government’s support and encouragement of the scheme, which had fostered national unity and development.
She urged corps members to participate in all camp activities and programmes aimed at preparing them to contribute to nation-building and self-reliance.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya, represented by Mr Inuwa Ibrahim, assured corps members of their safety, stating that Gombe was hospitable to all Nigerians.
He advised corps members to take advantage of the skill acquisition programme to empower themselves, emphasising that having a skill was vital in addition to their degree.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that A total of 1,674 corps members, comprising 903 males and 771 females, were sworn in for the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation exercise.
